Why All This Drama If FIFA Were to Favor Just One Team and One Player?

Well, there has been so much talk about FIFA being biased during the 2026 soccer tournament.

Why All the Drama?

Well, if it was just about making one team win, why all this drama? Just have the president’s favorite team and a weak team play in the backyard of his house and do the trophy distribution there itself.

As President, Show Some Restraint

Being FIFA President means you hold a big responsibility. Expressing excitement and overjoy for one team, and showing a sad face for another team’s victory, is not professionalism.

Everyone Has Their Own Choices

Everyone has their own choices. Some admire Lionel Messi. Some admire Cristiano Ronaldo. I am a Ronaldo fan.

But the difference between me and the FIFA President is that no matter how much you adore one footballer, you should at least pretend to be unbiased and happy for both.

Football Is Not the FIFA President’s Personal Property

The way referees are showing bias is as if football is the FIFA President’s own property. This was evident in not giving any sort of warning to his favorite player during the match against Algeria.

His team gets more extra time, while another gets less.

He openly shows excitement for one team and a long face for the other.

Trump Got The Attention Too

The recent Folarin Balogun controversy only adds to the questions. Reports revealed that President Donald Trump personally contacted FIFA President Gianni Infantino and asked for Balogun’s suspension to be reviewed. Soon after, FIFA suspended the enforcement of the ban, allowing him to play against Belgium. FIFA insists the disciplinary committee acted independently under its rules, but the timing has inevitably fuelled speculation among fans about whether outside influence had any role in the decision. Whether that perception is fair or not, football’s governing body should never leave room for such doubts.

Ronaldo Will Always Be Remembered

No matter what FIFA or his own team thinks, he is a complete player for fans around the world.

Fans cry along with him.

That’s the emotion called RONALDO.

No one can deny him any credit.

Kaká, himself a World Cup winner and Ballon d’Or winner, has said that winning a World Cup does not determine who is the greatest and has described Cristiano Ronaldo as the most complete player in football history.

Kylian Mbappé has repeatedly called Ronaldo his idol and role model. He has spoken about growing up watching him and has described him as one of the biggest references in football.

He is a legend.

It’s not a World Cup that will decide whether he is a legend or not. Some are blessed to perform with a stronger team, and some are not. Still, you rise, and no one can escape noticing you.

Records can be broken. Trophies can be won and lost. But inspiring generations of footballers and millions of fans around the world is something very few players ever achieve. Cristiano Ronaldo has already done that.

Winning a World Cup doesn’t change anything. I won it all, and I’m not the best in history. Messi is a genius, but the best and most complete player in history is Cristiano Ronaldo.
