The Tears of the Man in the Portico.

Every day, he can be seen sitting alone on the porch of his luxurious mansion. No matter how bright the day was, its warmth could not clear the cloudy gloom from his face.

He sat there motionless for hours, except for the tears quietly rolling down his cheeks. What broke my heart even more was that he did not even bother to wipe them away, as though wiping them would not make much of a difference.

And I was just one quiet neighbor who couldn’t do much, because it was his own loved ones who had deserted him.

He is a subject of discussion and a common sight for passersby. No words are exchanged. People simply watch him and go by. Neither does he speak to anyone, nor does he seem to care about anyone.

It’s just him and his loneliness, speaking to himself. He doesn’t want to share or vent the emotions he has kept bottled up inside.
