When The Sound of Music Suddenly Disappeared
A blog on suddenly finding out that The Sound of Music is taken off the OTT platform or streaming service I had been using for months.
The disturbing fact is that I always made sure to show my little one the songs, believing it would strengthen her creativity, prose and vocabulary. She was adept at learning songs. It is a joy to see her jump around when I am about to start that movie.
Every day there is a time, the only time when I would find some time for this movie. She never gets tired of the movie, neither do I get tired of seeing her happiness. For me, it is precious.
In today’s world, to see such undiluted, neat movies is very difficult. Every guest who turns up at my house wonders how my little one, at such a young age, was able to sing, “Doe, a deer, a female deer…” Such was the influence of this movie on her.
She would patiently wait for the “Cuckoo song…” However, I just keep the songs and fast-forward. She is okay with it, at least for now. Once she grows up, she might protest.
Now, when the last song is getting over, she would remind me, “Amma, over.”
However, yesterday, suddenly, I noticed this movie missing from my list of Continue Watching movies. I was surprised. I thought it might be some shuffling and that it had been listed elsewhere. To my surprise, it was nowhere to be seen.
I made her happy with the “Hakuna Matata” song for the time being. But in my inner heart, I was worried about her favorite movie.
That’s when I thought of trying YouTube.
Thank God! There it is, the full movie, free version. Except for a bit of clarity issue, I can see the YouTube video on TV. Today, once again, she saw the movie.
As far as clarity is concerned, it is just a minute detailing problem that can easily be ignored, and for a 1-year-old, it is least discernible.
So, when the streaming platform tried being smart, it was YouTube that came to my rescue.
And now, both me and my daughter are happy.
As always, she and I would be sitting on the couch with something to munch and watch TV.
Mind you, the only TV time and the songs-only time would span a maximum of 15 minutes because I believe less TV time, less mobile time and healthy eyes.
