There Is No Other Color as Sexy as Black
I once went to a wedding wearing a black dress.
It was trending at the time, looked absolutely beautiful, and, if I may say so myself, suited me really well. Being a big fan of black, I didn’t hesitate for a moment before wearing it to the function.
But when I reached there, I noticed a few rolling eyes.
Nobody actually asked me anything, but some questions were quite obvious from their expressions. Black? To a wedding? Why would she wear black to a function like this?
That is the kind of illusion the color black can create.
For some people, black is elegant, stylish, and sophisticated. For others, it is associated with death, mourning, bad luck, or something inauspicious. The meaning of black can change completely depending on the person, culture, occasion, and beliefs. vogue.com
But I have always been on the other side of that equation.
I find black sexy.
And if you ask me, there is no other color quite like it.
Black is sometimes loved and sometimes disliked. I have come across people who find black a bad omen. But I am different. I find black sexy.
1. Black is my favorite color for a dress
There is a special reason for liking black. It looks good on me.
But I know people who don’t wear black dresses because they think it might dampen the occasion. Black is often associated with death. But there is no other color than black that would enhance your look and beauty as much as a black dress.
Yes, it might be a bit difficult to wear during hot summers, but otherwise, it is such a delight. And needless to mention the comfort of wearing it during winters.
Who doesn’t know the benefits of maintaining a dark color when it comes to stains?
2. Black for vehicles
In my view, there is no other color than black that looks so cool on vehicles, especially four-wheelers.
When my husband and I were planning to buy a car, the first thing that came to my mind was a black-colored car. But my husband is a big fan of white, and hence we settled for a dual-tone combination of white and black.
I believe every time you find a black car that is well-cleaned, polished, and shining, every eye turns its gaze toward that vehicle.
It also keeps dirt a bit less conspicuous.
For me, black is the ultimate color for a vehicle.
3. What if a person is black?
It is about the confidence with which that person carries themselves.
Because I know two people who are dark-skinned yet handle it in two different ways. One person is super confident and believes black is beauty, while the other person is least confident and carries a complex.
I have found many people with darker skin tones who are simply beautiful.
Whitney Houston was not just beautiful with her voice, but with her beauty too. The same goes for Beyoncé.
Denzel Washington is such a handsome actor, and so is Morgan Freeman.
Skin tone should never be the criterion for human beauty.
4. Almost everything I own is black
Be it my vanity bag, my sandals, my eyeliner, my bindi, my laptop color, or its cover, it is black that I prefer.
Now, the only time I don’t prefer black is when I plan a color for my house.
Conclusion
Maybe this is why I don’t understand the idea that black is a bad omen.
For me, black is confidence. It is elegance. It is beauty. It is a color that makes me feel good when I wear it and makes things look better when I choose it.
But I also don’t want my daughter to grow up believing that one color is better than another.
I want to educate her to appreciate all colors, without attaching ideas of good luck, bad luck, beauty, or ugliness to them.
After all, colors are just colors.
But if you ask me which one I would choose?
I will still choose black. Every single time.
